With AUA2016 scheduled over Mother's Day, AUA President, Dr. William Gee, and AUA Secretary, Dr. Manoj Monga, respond to member concerns.
Dear AUA2016 Attendees,
It won't be long before San Diego is flooded with more than 16,000 women and men from 120+ countries around the globe for the largest, most anticipated international urology meeting in the world—AUA2016! As surgeons, we know first-hand the struggle of balancing work and family life, and we understand that spending Mother's Day away from home is a difficult decision. Please accept our apologies for this scheduling conflict.
Know that the meaning of Mother's Day is lost on no one; we recognize the remarkable contributions you make every day as leaders, caregivers, providers and role models, and appreciate the sacrifices you make for the well-being of your families and loved ones.
Unfortunately, as we reflected on this year's dates, we also realized that our 2017 meeting will span the second Sunday in May. Due to the size and breadth of our meeting, dates and sites are often limited, which is why they are chosen eight to 10 years in advance. While we are unable to shift the 2017 meeting, the AUA Board of Directors is reviewing future meeting dates to avoid these scheduling conflicts.
We thank you for your commitment to urology and we'd like to wish an early "Happy Mother's Day" to those joining us at AUA2016. We look forward to seeing you in San Diego!
William F. Gee, MD, FACS
Manoj Monga. MD, FACS
